A foggy day in Auckland

Yesterday I had the spookiest synch I've ever had.

I followed a rather fanciful trail & struck a pot of radioactive gold at the end of it. The pot was murder, literally, so not something I got all excited about. Then I got too close to a radio & was further radioactively bombarded, this time with news about Michael Jackson's death.

I had thought I would be making use of this weekend to continue my current research, but yesterday's events have rather taken the wind out of my sails. It seems the wind has also been taken out of the 'City of Sails' (Auckland) for today we have had a most unusual ongoing fog.

I went out for a walk earlier to clear my head & took my son's camera with me - apologies for the picture quality, although the batteries are new, the camera suffered water damage on the ark.

These images are from a rather picturesque area called Northcote Point - the point from which our Harbour Bridge arches across the sea before setting down near the city of Auckland.

Peeking out from under the Harbour Bridge & across to today's fog carpeted city

The outer overhangs of the bridge are know as the 'Nippon Clip-ons' - the bridge was built in 1959 with four lanes, which just turned out to be four too few.

The year that man may have landed on the moon, four new lanes landed on our harbour bridge courtesy of Ishikawajima-Harima Industries of Japan - hence the Nipponese terminology.

Below is a view looking out from the opposite side of the bridge...

where a bus waits for ferry passengers

What used to be a very common sight - the corrugated roofs of many a NZ home. This one decorated in the 'she'll be right' colour shade of whatever paint was found lurking in the garage. The house I live in sports the same elegant shades, though with a little green medley thrown in for extra contrast.

... Well the tree house may have been repossessed, but at least they left the furniture

The green, green grass...

I love things like this - the overhanging branch of this Pohutukawa has been left in place, but a sign has been affixed to it to warn low flying pedestrian heads

An old wooden church. Mostly our houses have always been made of wood, although the new fake cement type is gaining quite a bland foothold.

Something very fishy about this - a War Memorial with a watcher

the letters 'wtf' did spring rather hastily to my lips - is this a sign, is Sponge Bob to be the next celebrity sacrifice? And how will they do it? and just what the hell is going on here ??

House with white picket fence

La Ma(i)son (Lodge) with white picket fence

Here is something I've never personally come across before - orbs (& loads of them) - I thought I was just taking a pic of a kiwi style house.

There are some faintly visible in this last shot too of the Northcote Tavern (& no it's not rain).

Thanks for coming walkies with me.

If you've been going too hard out on the news over the last couple of days here is a clip to hopefully lighten you up a little - one of my favourite comedians doing 'Twistory' -history with a twist.

"like sky-blue air" (part 3)

Three years ago Batman & his wife were hanged in a tale of three knots.

Batman's execution was the result of two knots - one he tied or mis-tied, the other came courtesy of the hangman. His wife's departure was by a self inflicted knot.

I speak of magic. The magic of the knot tied to the magic of reel-ality.

Oh so she's just talking of a movie, let's slip back a notch into fantasy mode then.

Please don't.

Let's take a trip that is neither reality nor movie but rather a seamless combination of both. For a short time lets not make any mental adjustments to fact or fantasy. Lets just see what we see.

I opened this article in the day of The Prestige. It stepped into reality on the 2oth October 2006. On that day, Batman, who is also known sometimes as Christian Bale was wearing a different costume, that of a rough & ready Londoner with a talent for magic. He may or may not have led to the death of a fellow magician's assistant (& wife) because of the knot with which he bound her hands. The twists & turns that result from this event lead to his wife's suicide by rope. He is eventually convicted of murder & also silenced by the knot.

Twelve magical days later, Adrienne Shelly is hanged in the bathroon of an apartment she uses as her office. It is now 1st November - the time of the year when the veil between worlds (which worlds?) is considered to be at it's filmiest.

Two years pass & Batman returns from the dead, truly now he is the Dark Knight. He joins forces with another hanged man. This man who sometimes went by the name of Heath Ledger, has also died by the knot, in a time when he wore the name Ned Kelly.

Two hanged men walk into the lives of millions of people all over the world - no one notices a thing - they wear disguises, costumes, makeup, but Batman's voice has surely suffered from the effects of hanging.

Batman's butler who is sometimes called Michael Caine, pretends not to notice that his master has returned from the grave, yet it was he who helped lead him to the rope in those Prestigious days, when he wore the costume of a man named Cutter (another throaty reference perhaps).

The name of Caine loops deep into the Biblical past when brother killed brother, then whiplashes into the future, once again seeking it's own kind. It slips around the neck of a man in a hotel room who had walked in that name in a different time. Sometimes this man was known as David Carradine.

The ritualistic noose remembers back to the last decade & the day the music died, the day it silenced the music. Not just any day but the sacred day for sun god sacrifice - November 22nd. Michael Hutchence, another noose, another hotel room, another story of suicide or kinky sex. But did the noose slip up that day? How strange that a man whose 20 year career was his voice should violate that part of his body.

The Grasshopper died in Thailand. It's sound loops back into history & finds knotty twinning roots at Tyburn (Tie-burn) - England's gateway to hell - where for over 600 years & an estimated 50,000 are executed. Each one individually threaded through the eye of a noose & ritualistically strangled.

From wiki 'The first recorded execution took place at a site next to the stream in 1196. William Fitz Osbern, the populist leader of the London tax riots was cornered in the church of St Mary le Bow. He was dragged naked behind a horse to Tyburn, where he was hanged."

As the noose is the symbol of execution so the name of Tyburn was it's literary equal.

Tyburn seems to have relocated from time to time, but it's general location was in the area now inhabited by Marble Arch. The Arc de Marble began its life as a gateway in a Buckingham Palace make-over.

For no particularly apparent reason this little monument was loaded into a wheelbarrow by a couple of royal gardeners in 1851 & trundled down the road to it's current location...

which just happened to be in the very local locale of the infamous Tyburn Tree.

From wiki "In 1571 the Tyburn Tree" was erected near the modern Marble Arch. The "Tree" ... was a novel form of gallows, comprising a horizontal wooden triangle supported by three legs (an arrangement known as a "three legged mare" or "three legged stool").

From elsewhere - "The Tyburn tree was a huge triangular construction, the three posts were 18 feet high and the crossbeams were nine feet long - capable of hanging 24...Being hanged at the tree was an agonising death; standing on a wagon with a rope around their neck the condemned waited for the horse to be whipped so that it ran forward. This meant that as the wagon moved away the prisoners were only supported by the rope around their necks. A slow death by asphyxiation followed."

Wiki again; "Several felons could thus be hanged at once, and so the gallows was occasionally used for mass executions, such as that on 23 June 1649 when 24 prisoners – 23 men and one woman – were hanged simultaneously, having been conveyed there in eight carts."

Ahhh what a splendid time saving device - oh no hang on a minute, I forget myself, for have I not read again & again that;

"Hangings were a big public festival. Crowds gathered along the route from Newgate to Tyburn, and around the Tyburn tree itself, often exceeding 100,000. The rich rented upper-storey rooms in houses and pubs so that they could get the best views. Street hawkers and food vendors also lined the route... A grandstand was even erected at the gallows."

One would think that with the marvellous marketing opportunities afforded by this 'big day out', that it would be milked for all it was worth - several shows would surely have been more profitable!

"Even in the eighteenth century the Tyburn Road or Oxford Street was a lively area, with salesmen and shoppers and people stopping for a bite to eat or for a drink. Those who found a seat in the Mason's Arms, a pub in Seymour Place, would get a special view of the prisoners, because this was their very last place to stop for food and drink" - part of the ritual of hanging included a last drink (of some amber beverage, I presume).

From the building site of un maison de Masons;

"There is no symbol more important in its significance, more various in its application, or more generally diffused throughout the whole system of Freemasonry, than the triangle...The equilateral triangle is to be found scattered throughout the Masonic system. It forms in the Royal Arch the figure within which the jewels of the officers are suspended. It is in the Ineffable Degrees the sacred Delta, everywhere presenting itself as the symbol of the Grand Architect of the Universe. In Ancient Craft Masonry, it is constantly exhibited as the element of important ceremonies"

A quick jaunt on my yard brush (well the broomstick's in the cupboard getting an upgrade), to the land of etymology unearthed a little treasure all wrapped up in satin & bows;

"arch (n) 1297, from O.Fr. arche "arch of a bridge," from L. arcus ... Replaced native bow."

& then:

"bow (noun) "weapon," O.E. boga "archery bow, arch, rainbow," from P.Gmc. *bugon... The sense of "a looped knot" is from 1547."

A Masonic Royal Arch & a Marble Royal Arch. A symbolic bow? A looped knot? A noose? Surely knot! And yet this symbol is rather reminiscent of the Tyburn Triple Tree in the land of Royal Arch Masonry n'est-ce pas?

The chequer board pattern in the pic above calls to mind another board that comes with another English 'bow' - Bow Street. I had thought this was an English game, but in fact it was birthed in the US.

The English version is the only one I have ever played. I'd been reminded of this game a little while ago when I found out that Oxford Street & Park Lane, two of the most desirable acquisitions on the board, once went by different names AND in a rather different direction. As Tyburn Road & Tyburn Lane respectively, these roads led to death.

Taking another look at the board it is also rather interesting to note that not only does the Monopoly Square draw to a close with death, it also begins that way too. The second street that's up for sale is Whitechapel Street, the name recalling the Whitechapel Murders, 11 brutal killings between 1888 & 1891 in the district of Whitechapel. I'd been under the impression that Jack the Ripper had killed six women, but something even darker was afoot in this place at that time.

"According to Hasbro, since Charles Darrow patented the game in 1935, approximately 750 million people have played the game, making it "the most played (commercial) board game in the world." Is it just a game I wonder?

Returning to Tyburnian triangles for a moment

"The Third Reich utilized a myriad of colored triangles to classify the various groups of peoples they interned in concentration camps. The colors of the triangles were as follows: red for political dissidents, green for criminals, purple for Jehovah's Witnesses, blue for emigrants, brown for Gypsies, black for lesbians and other "anti-socials," and pink for homosexual men."

And a little more trianguloinformation - how I do love making up words.

"To the Greeks, the triangle is seen as the delta glyph and is symbolic of a doorway"

This from an 1887 Theosophical writing - I know looks a bit wordy, but I've tried to pick out the more thought provoking bits;

"Starting with the triangle as the unit of all subjective operations ...we proceed from a knowledge of the part to a concept of the whole — or unknown unit... When thus raised to the power of the infinite unit the triangle is our symbol for truth. As a symbol for the whole of truth, it holds the key to all science, to all wisdom, and its study leads with certain steps to and through that door wherein the mystery of life ceases to be a problem, and becomes revelation. ...The first idea we get from this single thing is wholeness;... and the equilateral triangle is the symbol that manifests these three qualities in unity. The figure 3 does not do it as we lose in it the idea of three related parts. Three separate 1's will not do it, as the idea of unity is lost. ... Each side of the triangle is the figure 1, ... the unit is a trinity. ... Seen in motion the triangle measures the arc of the pendulum, these successive arcs make the circle and the circle marks Infinity — or the pendulum swing that marks eternity in space and time, and so annihilates space and time. .... Form and motion involve change, the unit cannot change. ... To express the truth of the triangle, is to manifest the supreme energy of the universe..." Full article here here

Was the triangular Tyburn Tree a 'time saving device' giving 'excellent product placement for maximum crowd pleasing effect' or was it constructed along more esoteric lines during it's 212 years of 'productivity'?

Certainly it's triangulated positioning, as an early eye catching roundabout, does call for some attention.

While researching & contemplating, with much head shaking, the carnival event of old London hangings, I couldn't help but equate our modern news service & readership to days gone by.
"If it bleeds it leads" I've been told triumphantly on many occasions. So is queueing for the daily bloodbath err sorry newspaper akin to to queueing up to watch a hanging?

I've written previously about the ritualistic components of news presentation. I missed something back then, something that Tyburn's location has reminded me of.

"In the folk magic of many cultures, the crossroads is a location "between the worlds" and, as such, a site where supernatural spirits can be contacted and paranormal events can take place. Symbolically, it can mean a locality where two realms touch and therefore represents liminality, a place literally "neither here nor there"."

"Not all hoodoo rituals take place at an actual crossroads, but when laying tricks or casting magical spells, many practitioners make use of what can be called a "portable crossroads" or circle with a cross inside, known as an "X" or "cross-mark..."

I give you a crossroads spelling - I'll let you rearrange the letters.

Michael Hutchence's band also came with a portable crossroads - INXS

A rather more forceful fork was wedged into the road in 1946.

"Operation Crossroads was a series of nuclear weapon tests conducted by the United States at Bikini Atoll in the summer of 1946. Its purpose was to test the effect of nuclear weapons on naval ships (apparently). The series consisted of two detonations, each with a yield of 23 kilotons:"( A small aside, do note the name (slightly rearranged) of the first crossroad maker, he was originally taken out in Genesis) -Able was detonated at an altitude of 520 feet (158 m) on 1 July 1946.

Cain creating the first crossroads on his brother Abel

Thirty years earlier to the very day, the largest man-made detonation in recorded history, ripped through the French countryside & launched one of the bloodiest enforced sacrifices in history, the Battle of the Somme.

Lochnagar Crater with faux-blooded poppies (300ft across and 90ft deep)

Not straying too far from our hanging theme via the Tyburn Tree we return to Operation Crossroads for another snippet
"The Crossroads tests were the fourth and fifth nuclear explosions done by the USA (following the Trinity test and the bombings of Hiroshima & Nagasaki).

I find I'm running out of weekend again & so must try & tie these up ideas as best I can for now.

I have not been able to separate the idea of hanging from the idea that it's effect is to silence, to shut up. In a very real sense the one who is hanged is forever silenced. In the case of reel life, I wonder if those who are hanged in celluloid, lose their own voice & become merely the speaker of scripted lines (or spells). As I come to a close for now I have found a comment that adds even more fuel to this strange fire - I can't prove it, but did find this line about Michael Caine & his performance in the 1971 movie Kidnapped "I love Michael's great speech at the end before he hands himself in to be hanged." - this would give us a total of three hanged men in one Dark Knight.

In view (ok, well my view) of the feeling (ok my feeling) that hanging has been an ongoing occult ritual, as well as a cultivated visual extravaganza, designed far more for the watchers than the 'entertainers', I ask what possible reason or reasons could there have been.

I have no answers.

However I have had thoughts that it was designed to silence. I'm informed that it was meant as a deterrant & that sounds reasonable enough, but I don't like being reasonable.

What if hanging has been a human-history-wide ritual to cut off access to our voice?. A psychic attack on the fifth chakra of human-kind. This chakra when in full power allows us to voice our truth. It also connects us to our hearing, so methinks it would allow us to know when we are hearing truth AND when the wool is being pulled over our ears. We live in a world of incomparable stupidity - we struggle to identify even the most basic of damn lies. From where I stand, well actually I'm sitting, we have lost our 'sense' of truth. Why?

I'll leave you with a couple of thoughts before I plough my way back through all my spelling mistakes.

Tyburn was home to at least 50,000 silencings. So wtf does it mean when we find Speakers Corner located but a stones throw from that killing crossroads.

"A Speakers' Corner is an area where public speaking is allowed. The original and most noted is in the north-east corner of Hyde Park in London, England." (wiki)

Is this an enormous joke on a population that long since gave up it's search for truth. A goodly number who were executed at Tyburn were simply humans who spoke of what they believed in, but that was a long time ago now.

I do feel that our throats are a highly charged area. Lets round up for now with a fanciful little look at a couple of Mind Control favourites. Just humour me, I'm nearly done.

You've gotta have come across a butterfly or two in your conspiratorial rovings. Why might they be used? How about because of our butterfly of truth. The gland that belongs to the domain of the fifth or throat (truth) chakra is the butterfly-shaped thyroid. It never gets much of a rite-up...but a little word play improves it's ranking no end - Thy Roi (that's French for 'King') & just for creativity's sake I thought I'd stick one of these on the end for the 'd' - it's the Greek letter Delta. Now that's what I call a kick ass gland!

A kinda unnerving, though perhaps rather telling pic here called Butterfly of Life & Death

And finally the good ol' hourglass

I've been wondering if this is symbolic of the choked throat of a hanged human. If humanity carried a 'memory' of ritualistic hanging within it's psyche then could this be our cue to remain mute. Our visual reminder to dumb ourselves down. Don't ask me what this thing we spout out of our mouths is, one thing I'm sure of, it aint truth, it ain't even interesting.

I see this symbol EVERY day, does it reach some part of me that it's supposed to?? Yet more sand poured down my throat as I struggle to speak in a language that I feel is close by, but all to often I fall short of.

This article is part of my attempt to remember how to speak.

a short rant before bed

Sorry, but if I don't rant I probably won't sleep.

It's been an extended week, somehow an extra day seems to have been inserted along the way (& a work day to boot).

I decided to take myself off to the movies this evening, something I don't make much time for these days. There was a new film that looked semi-promising. It was called Easy Virtue, & was based I was told, upon a play of the same name, by Noel Coward.

The reason I'm here tonight can be summed up in one word

"Knickers"

For anyone unused to my blog, this is my epithet for the world's most fashionably marketed & pharmaceutically popular disease, 'cancer' (small type used on purpose).
Here below lies my original article should anyone think I'm totally callous & not paying respectful homage to the 'cult of the big sea'.
Knickerstocancer

With that out of the way I proceed to my gripe.

Using wiki for speed - well it's Friday night & I thought Id be reclining on a sofa eating grapes, instead of spitting out wrath.

"Easy Virtue is a three-act play by Noel Coward. He wrote it in 1924 when he was 25 years old...The central characters of the play are John Whittaker and Larita, the American divorcée he has just married to his mother's great disapproval...John soon arrives with his new wife, Larita, "She is tall, exquisitely made-up and very beautiful...Larita remains calm in the face of her new mother-in-law's disdain - even admitting to being divorced."

Things go from bad to worse with the feisty new wife versing thedisapproving mother-in-law.

Things then go from worse to whatever comes after that when the new wife's past is revealed
"It seems that Larita once posed for a portrait. Her ex-husband, a jealous man, accused her of having an affair with the painter. She denied it, but the artist - tormented by unrequited love - committed suicide. This was presented as proof of infidelity at the divorce proceedings."

Oh the shame. You know I think movie goers realise that in those days things like that were shocking. We could actually believe in it.

However what I'm choking on my grapes about is that the 2008 version of Easy Virtue, has the lovely young bride as a widow who's husband suffered hideously & succumbed to what is known on this blog, as knickers.

In today's version, her shocking past has been extended (like my week) to a story line that includes her being accused of & standing trial for the murder of her first husband by lethally injectiing him out of his misery. She was of course acquitted, so she could come & make this movie (because that's what it is after all).

What thought I, after my initial wtf reaction, was that doing in a 1920's movie. Just how many people even knew what 'knickers' was back then? Surely a more fitting one liner, for the times, would have been;
"huh, what's that, some exotic version of the can-can ?" (which actually was in the movie - with a shot the Rebel would revel in).

This movie was speaking loud & clear to today's audience, to what we have been taught. I really doubt that many in the 20's, would have been familiar with 'knickers'- they were all still recovering from the War To End All Wars - 'knickers' would surely have been small fry compared to that.

Squeezing every last drop out of the audiences visceral connection to knickers, we are drawn towards the finale with a new (to me) basis for true love - do you love someone enough to kill them? HUH???

I thought I was going to the movies to see a 'period piece' with witty one liners & clever social commentary from the 20's. The only thing missing from the modernising was perhaps poor uncle Bertie who'd recently died of Swine Flu after pigging out on bacon sandwiches & champignon.

This isn't the only movie selling 'knickers', far from it - it's just the one I paid $14 for. A couple of people actually walked out of the movie, although I don't know why, afterwards I wished I'd thought to get up too.

My superbly trained catholic nose seems to be scenting out a new guilt strategy - the guilt of good health.

Knickers to that.

Continued... a morning after rant

Last night my son went to see the new Terminator movie. Although we were at completely different cinemas both our movies started at 6.30pm & that was not the only synch. This morning my son informed me that Terminator Salvation begins with Dr Serena Kogen, a woman dying of knickers convincing one Marcus Wright (Rite) to donate his body to medical research after he is executed by lethal injection.
Oh what a small (movie) world it is.

I wrote to a struggling friend today & in the thoughts that spilled forth I mentioned NZ's rugby team, the All Blacks. From there it was a hop skip & short jump to the Haka - the now famous All Black opener to rugby games. I found a short clip on YouTube & watched it - I tell you what, I felt fire flow through my veins watching it - where oh where else do we see that sort of energetic expression these days (except occasionally in Prague). The Haka is not exclusively an expression of war, but I couldn't help but feel it makes a wonderful antidote to the relentless poison of knicker marketing. Here's a very short clip (please note that Adidas do not own the Haka).

"like sky-blue air" (part 2)

I guess you could say he's going for the her throat. Personally I prefer lemon tart, but hey each to their own.

The above pose of Herr Dracool is very f-a-m-i-l-i-a-r, so I'm sure you don't need me to spell it out.

Or do you?

We all know why the Nazi coloured mosquito goes for her throat, don't we?

Or do we?

You see I've been a-wondering, & not upon a star, because they're far too hung up for my liking.

What if... what if.. one of the least considered parts of our anatomy is actually of vital (vital C.1386, "of or manifesting life) importance?

What if the throat of humanity has been under attack for a long time & what if it holds a key for us?

To start off lets go back to the beginning, no not of this article, I mean THE very beginning. In his opening speech, God apparently wasn't much more than a throat, for if you recall he only did words. The lighting & stage show came later.

Coming forward again in time to my last post we recall that executing people by hanging has been around at least 2,500 years. It seems it's all explained in a few words by experts telling us that it was a quick, clean & effective method of crowd control.

We will take our own word 'Bollocks' as our opening point & do a little creative side-stepping of history. I have no idea if what follows has any truth to it, but I do not feel anyone is harmed by considering alternative views. So if your game, lets head off on our sky-blue trail.

I've never been greatly into chakras, I've read some about them but not connected with them in any meditative kind of way. Of these colourful energy 'wheels', I always found number 5 to be the least interesting, a bit bland, lacking the earthy punch of the lower chain gang or the spiritual superiority of the head honchos.

However looking at what humanity's been up to it's neck in, made me enact my own crime scene investigation. If this hunch that the human neck & throat was a 'target area' then I expected to find that I had been missing something on the rather largish side.

I did not disappoint myself.

Lets look at some words from the more charkratically aware, presented in a becoming shade of sky blue.

"The 5th chakra or Vishudda is located at the throat center and the color of this spinning wheel is a beautiful deep sky blue. I’ve always considered this chakra to be responsible for speaking our truths. According to Carolyn Myss (Sacred Anatomy), the throat chakra is our will power chakra."

"Gateway of Time and Space (Fifth) - The throat chakra represents our power to communicate verbally and the development of speech is unique to the human race...The human voice can conceal the truth or reveal the truth. It can convey emotion and information...Self expression and creativity are crucial to health ... healthy life - as well as a healthy body - requires that a person maintain dominion over his or her life and their throat chakra. This includes having the inner capacity to speak up on behalf of one's own needs...The inability to communicate your feelings, your ideas, your sorrow, your anger or your joy is like pouring concrete around your heart and your throat."

"Our neck, mouth and throat region is the gateway to the rest of our body. Most of our communication is either heard or spoken, and everything we eat and drink passes through our throats. With our voices, we let other people know what we think and how we feel...A strongly developed fifth chakra allows us to ... combine our heart energy with mental clarity, and communicate truthfully in ways that are understood by others. We also can hear the resonance in others' voices, so we have perception beyond the words they speak."

"The Fifth Chakra gives voice to the feelings of the heart, it speaks out our love, kindness, and forgiveness. In this center the four elements - earth, water, fire, and air - of the lower chakras are combined into pure energy. An awakened Throat Chakra brings us into synchronicity with life. This chakra deploys the matrix around which we create our world."

"...Represents our gateway to consciousness. It is our center of sound, vibration and
self-expression. It is the realm of consciousness that control, creates, transmits,
and receives communications, both within ourselves and between each other. It is the
center of dynamic creativity
."

"...Nexus where inner and outer world meet"

"The voice and the body are made up of one fabric!"

"The etherstate symbolises breaking through the final veils of delusion."

The following quote makes some big promises, but I for one am certainly going to allow for the possibility "The Fifth chakra is our psychic center, responsible for clairvoyance, clairaudience, and the ability to communicate without words... The Throat Chakra can have siddhis or magical powers available to someone who has an open throat chakra center. These include the ability to bilocate, to become invisible,to look into the past, and to know the workings of destiny... It also gives us the ability to envision possible futures and to act on our vision. The fullness of our interior world becomes available to us for the first time."

The New Zealnd Tui - surely one of the most amazing & stunning voices in creation - even nature has highlighted it's voice

"This is the Mother Chakra... You can inflict pain or kindness with the voice. What is more important to know is the voice represents our "Intent". We will decree a thing and it will be so."

"The ether is the crossover between the physical and the spiritual dimensions...The throat Chakra is associated with abundance, and with the state of consciousness called, "grace"."

"Metaphysically, this chakra is related to creativity, creating, manifesting in the physical world... It functions as the crossover between the physical world and the world of Spirit. On the physical level, it corresponds to deep space as the most subtle physical element. Metaphorically, it represents a person's relationship with his space, the movie that is playing around them. From the point of view of the Spiritual, it represents the matrix on which physical reality manifests."

"Number 5 is the Chakra of the will, clearly because it is the voice we use to make our will known, weather we speak or not...The will is what matters in any rite or ritual... its what it is all about ... clear directed will, sent out to clear purpose...Are we talking the real voice here..? Not really, but the idea of the voice and what it represents."

Ok so that's a little trek through a part of your anatomy you may only have noticed when experiencing a physiological (or human) pain in the neck.

Oh one further little point about the fifth element, I mean chakra is that it resin-ates to the key of G. In the first part of this series we noted the masonic 'tie in' with all things noosey, so here we are again, this time with a little something well-hung in the key of G.

Is that our voice I see before me, locked inside the squar'encompass?

Lets now take a little looksie tog-ether at the nether reaches of space that is the ether-real world. It's a whole article in itself but we're just doing a fly by in the words of those who know better than I.

"ether - 1398, from L. æther "the upper pure, bright air," from Gk. aither "upper air," from aithein "to burn, shine," from I.E. base *aidh- "to burn" (cf. Skt. inddhe "burst into flames," O.Ir. aed "fire)... In ancient cosmology, the element that filled all space beyond the sphere of the moon, constituting the substance of the stars and planets. Conceived of as a purer form of fire or air, or as a fifth element."

"Behind all visible phenomena is the aether. All things, animate and inanimate are infused with this as well as greater and lesser portions of the other elements (air, earth, fire and water), in ... and all enterprise is confined by the facts arising from this underlying nature. All arts, crafts and sciences deal on some level with manipulating the elemental and spiritual nature of things."

"..., some have a deeper understanding of this nature, they know what most people know not, they have esoteric knowledge. This gives them the power to interact with the world on a more profound level than most mortals."

"The Fifth Element is Aether and is the secret ingredient in Alchemy. It is representative of Great Spirit or The Divine... Aether is the very Life Force which moves through us. It is present in all the other Elements. Aether is the animating force in all life...you will know Aether simply by connecting to the Master of Your Own BE-ing"

"The four elements with the addition of Ether, formed the Quintessence of Matter"

"The circle and other geometric lines direct the flow of the aether that makes Alchemy work. As the name describes, all transmutation circles must have a circle in them, with no exception"

The image below hoved into view on a Giggly Image search for circles avec ether

"A coil with wound wire is an arrangement, transforming vortex flows of ether into the permanent ether flow, analogous to the flow created by a constant magnet."
I can't say I really understand this, what actually crossed my mind with the mention of circles & geometric lines were these ethereal outcroppings

Ok, so thus far we have looked at our necks & throats as the doorway to the 5th chakra. Within this doorway lies the power of our communication - our ability to create as we are told our original god did through the word (or sound). This doorway links to both inner & outer worlds. Perhaps it links to other times too, as our own private flux capacitor.

Damn there so many paths I could follow here I'm not sure which one to take next or should that be neckst.

Ok we'll do a short trip to an alternative therapy in order to build just a little more foundation to the idea that we are up to our necks in shit creek & desperately in need of some shit kicking paddles.

For those who have not heard of the Alexander Technique here is a brief run down;
"F.M. Alexander (1869-1955), an actor who began his career as a Shakespearean orator, developed chronic laryngitis while performing. Determined to restore the full use of his voice, he carefully watched himself while speaking, and observed that... as he went to begin the act of speaking, he pulled his head slightly back and down, depressing his larynx, shortening his torso, causing him to tense his legs and feet... He sought a way to eliminate that restriction. Over time, he discovered ...a principle that profoundly influences health and well-being: when neck tension is reduced, the head no longer compresses the spine and the spine is free to lengthen. Alexander restored his own natural capacity for ease by changing the way he thought while initiating an action."

I have taken a number of Alexander lessons in my life. Before you proceed with any movement the first direction you receive is 'to allow your neck to be free."

" Alexander made no distinction between the use of the Primary Control and the use of Self: to interfere with the head/neck/back relationship meant to use your Self badly, and all that you do in your daily life will impede and deteriorate proper functioning, damage your health and harm your well-being. However, if you did not interfere with the integrity of the Primary Control (meaning, good use of Self), then every one of your activities will contribute to your greater well-being."

Who'd have thought such a short 'bridge' could have such an expansive effect on the body? I found this pic on an Alexander Technique site & felt it resin-ated well with the ether image further shown earlier - s above so below? Feel free to draw your own conclusions or even your own spirals.

Lets proceed with a little more neck-centred text from the historical blockbuster, the Bible - OMG I thought I'd just play with that word, wasn't expecting this - if you play with your bible you get the sound 'Buy Baal'

Anyway whatever it spells, it has this to say - 'The stiff-necked and the unbelievers shall be punished' and 'they stiffened their necks that they might not hear the word of the Lord.' Hearing of course is part & parcel of the fifth chakra - what we speak & what we hear are it's domain.

So a little look at hearing, don't worry it doesn't get technical or cochleal.

I'm going to say here that see words as food. When we accept the words of another we swallow them. We sw-allow them. I have a feeling that this is a great deal of truth to this phrase. As I stood in line at another type of food store earlier this evening & read from my book 'Free Play', I came across these words "As we talk & listen, we are drawing on a set of building blocks (vocabulary) & rules for combining them (grammar)." I have come across the same description of foods as 'building blocks." I have never felt that words merely sit in the brain & get filed, I have always felt them in my body. I will travel many, many miles out of my way to avoid the slings & arrows of outrageous words. Indeed I have decided that whoever wrote that the pen is mightier than the sword was probably a secret society member who was having a secret society laugh, for of course the sword is simply a rearrangement of words - what a cunning (& cutting) remark.

The apparent 'real' world that I seem to be a part of has taken control of the fifth element of communication (words) through the media (sword). Blood is spilled daily within the world & words & I feel also, within the sword swallowers.

The ether seems to be fairly well under attack, (reconstruction?) too - webs abound in the sky blue 'air nets & the wide net.

The level of communication between the inhabitants of the real zoo oops I mean world, could be the subject of a rather chilling horror movie. I read the other day that a third of people (I think in the US) have an ilness called something like 'Celebrity Worship' - please don't make me go back & research that, I have my limits!

I have, in my life, enjoyed old fashioned murder mysteries, the ones where the 'he/she had it coming' nasty person gets cunningly offed & the sleuth appears to gradually solve the crime without the aid of modern blood samples, sperm samples or free samples. Despite that, it is not uncommon in these stories for one or more character to ejaculate.

Ha, would you believe I just found this in Pollyanna

"Well, of all the--" he ejaculated again, as he turned and strode on as before."

What a guy!

Descriptions like this perhaps tell us about an energy that we have forgotten or been fooled away from - the creative power of the ejaculated word - whether spoken or written.

OK I've gone on for long enough this time. What I've tried to bring into awareness this time is the enormous power that lies within our necks & throats. This is the area of the body that a rope is put around when someone is hanged, this is the part of the body that is then broken, squeezed or crushed. The vital bridge between heart & head is permanently disconnected.

Hanging is a toxic visual event. I believe that it is aimed at the eyes, mind & soul of the viewer.

I shudder to think just how much of this toxicity the human psyche has absorbed over god knows how long.

I have recently begun treatment for a long standing health condition. The alternative healer that I have been seeing tells me of the 'frequencies' that we inherit from our ancestors. So I'm wondering if there is within the human psyche a frequency of hanging. If this be so then what effect might that have had on the 'collective conscious or unconscious'? Could this be behind the current lack of communication between head & heart? Could it be behind the shocking lack of intiution we have today? Has creativity reached an all time low because the throat chakra of the human race has been strangled? Has the force of the Western World's communication dominance drowned out & suffocated our own voices?

Oops I nearly forgot I was supposed to do a sort of alpha-omage thing & finish where I started.

Let's return to the Dark Night, well he's a bit shy about coming out in the day. Here's something you probably didn't know until today (so a bit like me then).

We know that the man with a propensity for extra strong hair gel likes to dine a la carotid.

Etymologically our arteries are a bit of a surprise
"artery - 1398, from O.Fr. artaire, from L. arteria, from Gk. arteria "windpipe,"... They were regarded by the ancients as air ducts because the arteries do not contain blood after death; medieval writers took them for the channels of the "vital spirits."

I'm told by the ever reliable internet that Dracula is pretty much an invention of the 20th century - he made his name in the movies. I wrote about one of his early debuts in Hollywood a little while ago. Dracula had seemed a strange choice for introducing movies to the near virgin public. If I look again, with a slightly cynical, weary eye, I might wonder if all has not always been according to plan. Dracula goes for the throat of his victims, does that also include his audience? And just why does he give women a pain in the neck?

Is the throat the channel, bridge or passageway for our vital spirits? Do animals attack the throat of other animals because it's the easiest place to kill or is it that the essence of the dying spirit passes throught this gateway to the animal, vampire or rope that is biting down?

My plan is that ultimately this series will be about life so I leave you with this child who seems to me to exude throaty happiness
